In a medium bowl, place the softened cream cheese. Add the chopped smoked salmon, minced red onion, chopped capers, fresh dill, lemon juice, and black pepper.
Stir all ingredients together with a rubber spatula or fork until well combined and creamy. Maintain some texture from the salmon and onion.
Taste the dip and adjust seasonings if needed. Add more lemon juice for brightness or more pepper for a kick.
Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Garnish with extra dill sprigs. Serve immediately with bagel chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
Notes
For a lighter dip, substitute up to half of the cream cheese with full-fat Greek yogurt. Add a pinch of cayenne or hot sauce for subtle heat. Can be made a day ahead and stored in an airtight container in the fridge to allow flavors to meld.
